Students will learn new strategies for dealing with anxiety when it comes to leaving their caregivers to attend school.

Using age-appropriate and engaging activities, students will practice coping skills to reduce separation anxiety. This separation anxiety lesson is specifically designed for lower elementary school students (kindergarten through second grade).

Week 1: Self Reflection
Week 2: Creating a goodbye ritual
Week 3: Practicing coping skills
Week 4: Practicing more coping skills
Week 5: Responding to parental separation
Week 6: Verbalizing strong emotions

  • Calm down coloring sheets
  • Calm down bottle craft
  • Sing-a-long song

  • Deep breathing finger tracing
